Gold and brown new years mani
This is the sequel to yesterday's swatch of Bling Dyanasty by OPI. On top of the gold base color, I took the largest dotting tool I had to add random large chocolate brown (OPIs I Brake For Manicures) circles all over the nail. I filled in the empty spaces with the smaller end of the same dotting tool. I let this dry, and it looked cool by itself (sorry no pic!) then went over it with a thin coat of top coat to adhere tiny gold hexagons. I used a dotting tool dipped in top coat to individually place a single hexagon in the center of each large brown dot. On my accent ring nail, I placed a row of gold hexagons along the nail/cuticle line. It takes two coats of Seche Vite to encase the hexagons completely to a smooth finish, but shown is just with one coat. Hopefully I'll have time to squeeze in another new years inspired mani; this one is cute, but not blingy enough to ring in 2012!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 19 - Galaxy
Well, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to recreate my previous post of galaxy nails, so I tried to do it in different colors and I'm pretty happy with this! I did a black base coat and then cut a skinny piece off a makeup sponge to sponge on purple and light purple... Then sponged on a black with silver glitter in the dark spots. For the stars, I used 2-3 holo dot cut outs (the eyes that punched out of my playboy heads, I saved in this little jar). Then the pointy side of an orange stick for medium stars, and the pointy side of a sewing needle for the tiny stars.
For some reason, it doesn't look glossy despite my efforts with 3 coats of Beauty Secrets Top Coat!! Maybe its the color combo?? I'm going to add a few more coats tonight, so maybe I'll switch out the pictures if it works... :-/

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 11 - Polka Dots
I don't know if this counts as polka dots, but there certainly are a lot of dots here. I used Chrissy and my Franken "Ashy Wang" to make clean French tips, then added large dots of black, white, and Jessie's Girl "Baby Cakes" (hot pink). Then a couple of tiny dots coming off the cluster. I super enjoyed this design and will def be trying it again in different colors!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 2 - Orange
DAY 2 - Orange. I used Sunny Side Up by Wet N Wild as the base for my French tip, sponged on a little bit of Mellow Yellow by Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in the corners of 3 of my nails. Then striped on these dainty little flowers in black and added these mini silver flatback dots that I found in my craft box. My inspiration for this design is based off of these little flowers from this artwork my brother painted and gave me for (our) birthday. We're twins :). Here's the painting:

Starry Night Sky
So, I've been away from my blog because I've been hardcore crafting at my house- sorry! But I will def be posting more as my BLOGIVERSARY is a week away!!
I did this design as a rough draft for my girlfriend who is coming over on Wednesday to get her nails done.
I did two coats of a dark blue, sponged on some light blue polish in certain spots to look like night time clouds, or overcast or something... then I took a toothpick and a sewing needle to make really tiny random dots all over with white polish. I'm pretty happy with the results of this and I'm sure my friend will be too on Wednesday!
Also, that's my awesome Fernet-Branca zippo that I'm holding. :)

Franken No. 1 - Ashy Wang
WARNING: TOE PICTURE!!!!!!
So Chrissy and I needed grey nail polish and there was none at Rite Aid, so we bought white polish and added black to it to make this GREY (not the blue) in this picture. The blue is Wet N Wild's NERDS Need Love Too.
We sat there and shook polish for what seemed like forever and then we decided to name it Ashy Wang No. 1 because it looks kinda ashy and Chrissy's name is Wang. Anyways, sorry, for showing my toes! But for the first time in nail blog history, I painted my nails to match my feet! Hope I didn't terrify anyone with an upclose picture of my monkey paws....

Rainbow Nails
I know I posted this on my Tumblr already but I had to update my blogger. This design I did on a nail tip that I had glued to a pencil about 10 months ago, but I had forgotten about it until just recently I found a bunch of experimental designs in a cigar box on my bookshelf. I actually did this in the middle of my Disney series, but didn't post it til just now. The day after I did these, my girlfriend Meghan came over and I did this exact design on her real nails (since they are so long) for her Whiskey Wednesday at her place. I love this design and think it would have been great for PRIDE; however, since I am really lacking gay friends lately ('cept you Ryan), I have no reason to go to PRIDE anymore. It's lost its pizzazz and the margaritas are too expensive now. Also, I've never found Tranny Alley; I have seen it on the website map, but never found it in all my years...

Pink Polkies with Bowties!
Super cute short nails tipped with a revamped version of my red and white Minnie Mouse nails, but in PINK! These look a lot like my hands, but they are Chrissys, and we have suprisingly almost the same exact nail sizes. Would give a nail color breakdown, but unfortunately I am unaware of the name of the base pink, however it's got a coat of Sally Hansen's HD in LCD, which is my favorite of the collection. A light see-through pink with micro shimmers of blue in certain light. Goes good on top of any shade of pink.

Minnie Mouse

AGAIN I tried to do something for Xmas, see I started out ok... I painted on Wet N Wild Red Red tips, then white polka dots and then I couldnt help but draw on black bows like Minnie! I'm doomed! I can't get into the Xmas spirit for my nails!!!

ADORABLE Rainbow Polkadotted Tips :)

Rainbows are not usually my kind of thing, but surprisingly I kept this set on longer than 1 day! I had it on for a full 2 days, and that's something. They are just SO cute! I painted on pink, orange, yellow, green, and blue French tips, and used my dotting tool to carefully make large white dots on top (and of course a good think layer of my go-to glitter top coat.) The following colors were used in this design:
NYC "Pink Promenade Creme"
MilaniNEON "Awesome Orange"
Sally Hansen Instant Dry "Lightening"
Wet N Wild "Green with Envy"
Sally Hansen Complete Manicure "Blue Calypso"
This is a simple, but very cute design that really doesn't require much talent, just a steady hand.

Got grapes?

I had to take one of these pictures with a flash because you couldnt really see the design but I sorta warped the colors... This was just a fast asymetrical tip design I did when I was to lazy and lacking creativity. I don't even like the color purple anyways; it's a good thing I did this particular design because my roomate caught a glimpse of these and had me do an almost identical version on her. The lighter of the purple is Nicole by OPI's "Virtuous Violet" and the darker is "Purple Pizzazz" by Sally Hansen Hard as Nails. I used my dotting tool to line the seam between the two purps. Got graaapes?

While watching the news...
While watching for potential riots on the news today in downtown Oakland, I was experimenting with some more designs. The first is boring; I used patches of white "French White Creme" by Wet N Wild, maroon "Burgundy Frost" by Wet N Wild, and a metallic light blue/purple "Rain Check" also by Wet N Wild. I just outlined it with some "Black Lace Creme" by NYC and there's some dots on there too because I'm so into dots since I found my new dotting tool.
The second is an idea I got from Love4Nails on YouTube. She's amazing; she does lots of nail tutorials on YouTube and is really talented and the way she talks is just strangely relaxing! So for those who haven't seen her YouTube videos, definitely check her out! I made four checkered patches and outlined them with white dots. I used Nicole's "Respect the World" as the blue, Nicole's "Virtuous Violet" for purple, "Caribbean Frost" by Wet N Wild as the greenish blue, and "Burgundy Frost" by Wet N Wild as the maroon. Then of course, as I do with most every design, covered it in glitter BEFORE dotting on the white outlines.

Let's get physical
Kind of an homage to this weird purple and pink moo moo my grandma used to (and possibly still does) wear, and a late 80s early 90s jazzercise leotard. I dunno, is it still dorky and tacky if you can admit it? I'm taking them off; I just wanted to take a picture of them. The blue is Nicole "Respect the World", purple is Nicole "Virtuous Violet", pink is CoverGirl "Fuschia Girl".
