30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 30 - Inspired by a Tutorial - Plants vs. Zombies

OK so I'm going to make this short: this wasn't a tutorial, but it WAS someone elses nail design. They had french tips in bright green with these crazy zombie heads on them. Oddrey, my lovely hand model is modeling these right now for me as I needed to paint my other challenge on my hand. After I already had painted them on, I realized their original picture was copyrightedand I couldn't show you guys what it looked like! Also I didn't even know these were Plants vs. Zombies zombies until I showed my boyfriend the picture! I thought they were just super cute zombies. :)

I'M DONE WITH THIS CHALLENGE FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 29 - Inspired by the Supernatural - Dia De Los Muertos

Dia de los muertos! I have been waiting to do this all month... Still not happy with how it came out. I should have been layering top coat the whole time to smooth out all these details!!! Now in the middle of the nail where the skulls are, there is basically a pile of polish... Not a good look.

I painted each nail a different color, pink, yellow, orange, blue, and green. Added contrasting flowers to the corners of the nails for some spice. Then painted my white skull shapes on. I decorated the skulls with dots and flower shapes and when I couldn't fit any more deco on, I outlined with black and added my eyes. Wish  I had recieved my package today I could have added something cool into the eye holes... :(

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 28 - Inspired by a Flag

I know, I know, my hand painted stars are poop. But I haven't acquired every color of star glitter yet and my "white" is basically just clear. I love the American Flag! It's my favorite, but I do it quite often, (also red white and blue). My boyfriend Kevin suggested I do the Confederate flag, and I thought it would be a great idea but since I didn't want to paint the same flag on every nail so I incorporated the orange and blue "01" to mimic the side of the Dukes of Hazzard car! Smart, huh? That orange ^^^ is Sunny Side Up by Wet N Wild. I've bought it so many times because I think it looks nice with my skin color... I haven't used it in months, but brought it back to life with some nail polish thinner.

If anyone is wondering why I'm posting 1-3 challenge posts a day... it's because I was sick of the challenge like 3 days after I started it and I'm trying to finish it as soon as possible! I haven't even had time to do any awesome Halloween nails-- It's almost Halloween..!

Also, follow me on my Twitter I'm still trying to figure out how to use it!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 27 - Inspired by Artwork - Tokidoki

For my "Inspired by an Artwork" post I decided to do Tokidoki characters because they are so cute. I really dropped the ball on pretty much every nail except the thumb, but I'm still pretty conten with how the design turned out as a whole. I'm going to also try to paint/upload my next challenge post tonight too- only 4 more to go!!!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 25 - Inspired by a Pattern - Burberry

Funny, I chose this for "pattern" instead of fashion. But this pattern is highly recognizable, so I hope I didn't totally make a mockery of it! I attempted to do the Burberry plaid, which is super hard because it has so many intersecting lines. I used a lot of top coat to smooth out the striping process.

My process is as follows:
1. 1 coat Apricot Beige by Caroina
2. Using the brush in the bottle, made thick "T" shapes on each nail.
3. 1 coat top coat. Let dry.
4. Using red striper brush, add the 4 red stripes, intersecting at the center of the beige square.
5. 1 coat top coat. Let dry.
6.. Using a custom striper brush, paint on one direction of the navy lines on each nail.
7. 1 coat top coat, and let dry.
8. Paint on the last 3 navy lines perpendicular to the first set, intersecting at the intersection of the white cross shape.
9. Then top coat to smooth.

Came out pretty smooth, huh? Coulda been a bumpy mess. :)

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 24 - Inspired by Fashion

Thanks, to my hand model Oddrey, I was able to do posts for my challenge without taking off my current nail design. I searched the word "fashion" on Google Images and found this trio of Gucci dresses that I picked as my inspiration for fashion nails. I used black, white, and Mellow Yellow by Sally Hansen, with a darker golden yellow (that is unnamed) on top to match the yellow in the dresses. I'm pretty happy with this design, too bad it's not on my hands!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 24 - Inspired by a Book

My "Inpired by a Book" nail art is of course inspired by this beautiful copy of Arabian Nights. This hardcover came out with a huge selections of all the classics, all with beautiful artsy covers. I got this for Xmas from my boyfriend Kevin :). It's blue, gold, and white intricate cover was super fun to recreate on my nails and looks crazy!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 23 - Inspired by a Movie

I am a few days behind on blogging, but I have the pictures to prove I still did my challenge! I'm going to upload them all now, and keep the posts to a minimum.

For "Inspired by a Movie" I chose to do Scream, keeping in mind the season; also I just saw Scream 4 which was pretty awesome. I was thinking about doing "Stab" nails which is the movie in the movie Scream that tells the story of the first 3 Scream movies... Basically it's Scream's "Scream"?? I didn't think anyone would get it so I just stuck to the original. On the thumb and ring finger I have painted on the Scream mask, the index finger is just kinda random but inspired by the frayed edge of the killer's outfit. The middle is a bloody finger print with some blood dripping from the cuticle (it really looked like my finger was bleeding, it was actually creepy looking at IRL). The pinky's a bloody knife!

OK on to the next post...

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 22 - Inspired by a Song

Mine: ^^^

Ke$ha's :
I was actually watching Pop-Up Video on VH1 when I had to do this design, and luckily enough Ke$ha's Tik Tok Video came on and they show her feet with gold leopard toes at the very beginning of the video! I hopped off the couch and immediately did these! With matching hands!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 21 - Inspired by a Color

For "inspired by a color" I was inspired by my hair color! My hair is Ion Color "Darkest Brown" with a chunk of Manic Panic "Atomic Turquoise". It's a pretty simple design, as my hair is pretty simple. Just black tips, with 3 streaks of Sally Hansens "The Real Teal" on one side. But matches my hair perfectly!!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 20 - Water Marbled

Ahhhh the dreaded water marble. When I saw this was on the challenge list, I knew I wouldn't be marbling my long acrylics! I can't imagine cleaning under the nails, even with the protective tape, I make a huge mess. Luckily, my good friend Audrey volunteered. I painted a single coat of white to make the colors pop and into the water I dropped red, yellow, and green (of course) for a swirly marbled Rasta design. We did the thumb soooo many times, I can't tell you how many times we messed it up before, during or after dipping.

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 19 - Galaxy

Well, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to recreate my previous post of galaxy nails, so I tried to do it in different colors and I'm pretty happy with this! I did a black base coat and then cut a skinny piece off a makeup sponge to sponge on purple and light purple... Then sponged on a black with silver glitter in the dark spots. For the stars, I used 2-3 holo dot cut outs (the eyes that punched out of my playboy heads, I saved in this little jar). Then the pointy side of an orange stick for medium stars, and the pointy side of a sewing needle for the tiny stars.
For some reason, it doesn't look glossy despite my efforts with 3 coats of Beauty Secrets Top Coat!! Maybe its the color combo?? I'm going to add a few more coats tonight, so maybe I'll switch out the pictures if it works... :-/

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 18 - Half Moons

I actually really liked this design when I was finished (granted it took me 3 tries to get it to come out like this... I was just so shaky tonight! I used two coats of Milani Neon in Neon Orange as a base coat, then freehanded these half moons on black (prolly why I kept messing up) then used a silver Art Deco striper to make this spider webs. The reason you can't see my ring finger is because I thought one would look cute with a coat of glitter topcoat, but it didn't and then I thought I'd put some stars on it, then decided to take them off but they had left an impression.............anyways it looked bad. Happy Halloween! Muahaha...

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 17 - Glitter

I didn't do this for my nail art challenge, I did this because I haven't painted my right hand this whole challenge and I wanted to do something crazy for that hand because it was naked these past two weeks. I then decided that it would be perfect for a glitter post because it is so sparkly and glittery...

I used LA Colors Allure, a pink-orange shimmery neon for the tips, and a black and purple striper to make the wispy lines, then I dumped some Sally Hansen glitter topcoat in Strobe Light and used my striper brush to paint lines on top of the purple and black. then glued on glitter dots randomly, flatback pearls, silver holo Playboy heads, and square and circle rhinestones in different sides. then like 6 coats of top coat.....

I like it, but to paint my other nails and remove with cotton balls, I have to wear gloves .

Glitter!

30 Day Nail Challenge-Day16- Tribal

Personally I don't get this trend, I'm just trying to get through this challenge, so I can do my nails the way I want. :)

30 Day Nail Challenge - Days 14 & 15 - Flowers and Delicate Print

I'm so behind! Here is Day 14: Flowers, I used Jesse's Girl "Baby Cakes" to sponge on the tips and then white a blue flowers just like in my purple post.

And here's my delicate print - I was on the phone so I got this idea from Erin but did a poop job- and I used Mink Muffs by Essie to load on a thick basecoat and while it was still wet, I pressed on little lace pieces I cut out. It probably would have looked better with topcoat, but I was kinda in a rush - just like I am right now because I'm still on the phone! Peace!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 13 - Animal Print - Fish Scales

I attempted to try something new for "Animal Print"  day because I love animal prints, and I've done it all. Zebra, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, tiger, and snakeskin from the "Metallic" day challenge. So this time (inspired my a mermaid/siren chalkboard drawing at starbucks) I wanted to attempt FISH SCALES. I used the same technique from the snakeskin nails: I tighty held a piece of lace on my nail and sponged on the top color. I used Nicole by OPI "Repect the World" for the French, and NYC "Big Money Frost" and a silver striper to sponge over the lace. Sometimes it looks like fish scales, sometimes it just looks frosty and unkempt. But I wanted to try something new as it is a challenge. Maybe someone else can do it better! I'd like to see another attempt at fish scale nail art. Lemme know if you see some!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 12 - Stripes + Pink Wednesday

I've been neglecting my pink wednesdays but I'm back on track! I used Wet N Wild Dream Poppy to make a base French tip and striped on these weird intersecting lines in white and black for my challenge for today which is "Stripes"

It took me 4 tries to even figure out a design for today, so I don't have too much energy to write anything else. Oh yeah I'll say this: I'm so over the 30 day challenge. Who knew it would take like...a whole month? Sheesh!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 11 - Polka Dots

I don't know if this counts as polka dots, but there certainly are a lot of dots here. I used Chrissy and my Franken "Ashy Wang" to make clean French tips, then added large dots of black, white, and Jessie's Girl "Baby Cakes" (hot pink). Then a couple of tiny dots coming off the cluster. I super enjoyed this design and will def be trying it again in different colors!

30 Day Nail Challenge - Day 10 - Gradient

Day 10 of the 30 day challenge is gradient. I am through with the full-nail polish application, but luckily, with this design I gave myself a little space in my pink french to do a corner fading to black. I used NYC Charming Rose Creme for the pink and sponged on black in the corners. Those little black specks you see is actually a sprinkling of jet black glitter from Martha Stewart.  I thought it gave the effect of spray paint splatter coming from the corner.

On to Day 11- I'm a day behind posting!
